Yes, it is kind of ghetto, and it consistently performs below the state average on the ISTEP, which all students must pass to qualify for graduation. It and Southport High School (which are the two high schools in Perry Township) are schools you definitely want to avoid. If possible, send her to North Central or to a school in Fishers or Carmel. I know these are on the exact opposite end of the Indianapolis area, but their schools are so much better in all aspects. The school board in Perry Township is also a joke; at least, it was a couple of years ago when I last paid attention to it. To see state performance data for PMHS, click on the link in my source. By the way, both SHS and PMHS are in danger of becoming chartered schools because of their poor performance.

little ghetto, very poor performing school. I would try Center Grove schools to the south.

It is very ghetto, and very low performing. The best schools are Carmel, Fishers, and Center Grove.

Sure, just about any fast food place and some basic retail (KMart, WalMart, Target) You can also try to increase your babysitting business - post a profile on sittercity.com, if you go to church, get the word out there that you are looking for more kids to babysit.

University of Indianapolis vs Indiana University?

University of Indianapolis vs Indiana University?
I know this sounds a little silly, but I do get the two schools mixed up. Which school has the better academic reputation? Which has a more diverse student population? Which has the better-looking campus? Which ranks higher in sports? Which is located in a better area?

Indiana University is a huge, major university located in Bloomington, Indiana. It has branches with Purdue University in several cities and a medical and dental school in Indianapolis. The University of Indianapolis is a much smaller place located in Indianapolis with fewer students and fewer programs. You will have to decide which is a better looking school, ranks higher in sports, and has a more diverse student population. I would guess that IU (Indiana University) does because it attracts students from around the world. U of I has a branch in Athens, Greece. U of I -- 4,700 students IU -- 40,211 at the Bloomington campus alone

2
University of Indianapolis= small, private institution located in Indianapolis. IU= Large, public school located in Bloomington, Indiana with a large sprawling campus, lots of trees and buildings. Reputation depends on what area you're studying. Sports? IU has a much larger program.

3
To me the better school is Indiana University (I U ) and yes you are getting them mixed up. I U is the one in Bloomington Indiana and has better sports and academic classes then University of Indianapolis. U of I is located on the est side of Indy and is a smaller more private school then I U. I U is more populated with students both on and off campus. I U of Bloomington is where Coach Bob Knight got all of his recognition. Good Luck :)

At University of Indianapolis is a private college, you get individual attention, is a great school for teaching and nursing. but the tuition is much higher than a state University. The have many scholarships I would pick this for my son if I could afford it. Indiana University is one of the big 10 in the midwest. It is huge and has branches all over the state. The classes are larger but more varied and diversified. The tuition is more reasonable especially if you live in the state. They are both excellent schools it just matters how your child or your personality is and which school you would help you excel.

Usually the average age of people who enter is 18 but I live in Australia. It's probably similar though! With arts schools, you can be accepted at any age as long as you meet with their requirements and if this is for music/theatre/acting, I've heard of lots of people who have been accepted in as young as 15. Good luck with everything! :)

Indy's not a bad place. Gets cold in the winter ... and jobs don't tend to pay as much as they do in Chicago or on the East Coast. However, there are some very nice - yet affordable - apartment complexes. You will want to stay OUTSIDE of the 465 loop on the east or west sides of town. Try Plainfield or Avon - new and safe communities ... The Keystone area is plusher and a bit more expensive. The schools are good in the Washington Township district, from about 71st street north, and east of Meridian. Carmel is also very nice - but expensive. Email if you want specifics. Good luck.

Indianapolis is a great place to live. I am originally from that area (several miles north), but I have 2 sisters who live there now w/their families. One lives in Plainfield, works in Avon. The other lives near Greenwood Mall. Apts near Geist Reservoir are nice. It's a big city, so the job market is pretty good. Keep in mind that getting around the 465 loop can be a bear! TONS of shopping & great nightlife downtown. Carmel is a very nice area, but as the other poster said, is very expensive. Email me & I'll be happy to put you in touch w/my sisters. Good luck!

I am a incoming Freshman in high school and my long term goal is to become an astrophysicist and I would like to start getting my self involved in programs pertaining to astronomy and physics aimed for high school students.

How about Butler University? They've got some good researchers there. Keep in mind you need a PhD in physics or astronomy to do anything in the field, and even if you do get one, there aren't enough jobs to go around - many astronomers leave the field every year. So get a PhD in physics, because there's a lot more you can do with that. For now, trying joining a local astronomy club.

How is Eagledale, Indianapolis, Indiana?

How is Eagledale, Indianapolis, Indiana?
Is it a good place to live? No crime, good population? Schools? Job Opportunities? Thanks PS: Thinking about moving to Indianapolis and figured out that price are low and the area looks good (on google map at least :) More precisely: W 34th and Allison Avenue? I understand that some do not want to live there. But is it at least a safe neighborhood? More families based neighborhood? Thanks

Eagledale is located just north of IMS on Georgetown Road. I've driven that area several times a month (we use Georgetown Rd to get to 38th street to go shopping on weekends). I can honestly say that I would NOT live there. That entire area has gone down hill in the last 4 yrs. Some houses have junk cars in the front yard, which is a small front yard. Some houses have fences that are not properly taken care of, or they do not mow around them so the weeds/grass is taller then the fence. House prices are low there because the neighbor hood isn't that great. You also need to remember that when you look up places on Google maps...the maps isn't current.

I grew up in speedway just south of eagle dale area. It has changed a lot since I have been out of there. It is a mixed neighborhood with Indianapolis Public schools. I do have Friends that live there and some have lived there all their lives and do not have troubles, so I guess if you like smaller yards and homes closer together it is OK for the most part. They do have their share of crime but Indy has that pretty much anywhere. You may want to try places like Brownsburg, west of indy. Maybe even speedway as well of you can afford it. Good Luck:)

Congratulations, massage therapy is a great career choice. I think massage therapy is gaining more and more recognition and the job chances are getting better by the day. Massage Register has a list of massage schools where you can request information from the schools for free. You can request information from a bunch of schools near you zip or in your state and decide which schools suits you the most.

Look into FAFSA and check with the school you are interested in as well. I think they might have University Grant which is quite a bit of money.

2
Talk with the financial aid officer of the school you are planning to go to Check out Federal Student Aid Web Site or FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ I suggest you explore all federal funding and grant options at the Federal Student Aid website http://federalstudentaid.ed.gov/ You may also want to read the Handbook of the Pell Grant -- this is an 86 page document that contains everything about the grant http://ifap.ed.gov/sfahandbooks/attachments/0203Vo3MasterFile.pdf Or you can call the Federal Student Aid Information Center http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/gtepfpg.pdf at 1-800-433-3243 and ask them if there are any programs for you Aside from FAFSA http://www.fafsa.ed.gov and Pell Grant http://www.ed.gov/programs/fpg/index.html , you may want to explore private foundation grants Also check out Fastweb http://www.fastweb.com For private grants, you may want to check the Foundation Center's Foundation Grants for Individuals Online http://gtionline.fdncenter.org . It's a subscription based website ($9.95 per month) and their opening blurb says that the database is ideal for "students, artists, academic researchers, libraries and financial aid offices." You may be able to find grants from private foundations.

How to get School Residency for IUPUI ( an Indiana University)???

How to get School Residency for IUPUI ( an Indiana University)???
Ok, so I started attending IUPUI this fall in August of 2007, which is in Indianapolis Indiana. I took about apretty big loan to attend here. I am a transfer student as well from Florida. I really need to get residency this upcoming fall of 2008. In the state of Indiana to get a state run school residency status you must do the following two things: Live in the state of Indiana for the past 12 months and prove your main purpose of living in Indiana is not for education. So the first one I have, because I moved up here in August before classes begun, I live in the campus aparments. Now it is the other part that is very tricky and I cannot get a solid repsonse whne I have asked the school exactly how do I prove or what counts for makeing the requirement for proving education is not the main purpose of comign to Indiana. My main purpose was for personl reasons, like leaving a very abusive relationship and starting fresh at a new school. Some states ask for you to live there 12 months. PLEASE Help A.s.a.p
